Who’s Got Your Back? Part II

Last time, we wrote about the importance of having Trusted Advisors. But how to find them? And once you do find them, how do you keep the magic alive?

Observation is key when looking for Trusted Advisors. Pay close attention to how individuals interact with others and navigate their own lives.

  • Do they possess qualities or skills that complement your own?
  • Are they the eternal optimist, seeing rainbows where others see rain?
  • Do they excel at seeing obstacles before they become a problem?
  • Perhaps they’ve got a knack for doling out encouragement like it’s candy on Halloween?
  • Or maybe, just maybe, they share your love for a good coffee or brewski?

Once you’ve identified potential candidates, take the initiative to reach out and get to know them on a deeper level. Use this opportunity to share your vision and gauge their response. Are they receptive to your ideas? Do they offer insights that make you go, “Hmm, never thought of that”? If so, you might have just found yourself a keeper.

The next step is to keep your Trusted Advisors engaged. Depending on your business cadence, this may mean weekly, monthly, or quarterly updates. Keep these folks close! Reach out to them when you need support, counsel, or simply a dose of humor to lighten the mood. By fostering open communication and mutual respect, you’ll strengthen the bonds of trust and collaboration within your circle.

Last, but definitely not least: don’t forget to show some love. A simple “thank you” goes a long way in acknowledging the value they bring to your life and business.
